Teacher Feature: Vickie Morse

Vickie Morse “Vic” has been teaching weekly classes at Radiate since 2021. Vic’s seemingly bottomless energy (IYKYK!) and enthusiasm for yoga and teaching make her a great fit at the studio. Here’s what she had to say when we asked her about being a teacher and life outside of yoga.

What do you hope students experience in your classes?  I strive to create an environment where students can safely explore their bodies' capabilities, the power of their breath, and their inner strength, all while opening their hearts with gratitude for the present moment.  I want anyone new to yoga to feel confident and empowered.  I want experienced yogis to have an opportunity to be challenged and to play with what I offer and make it their own.  I want everyone to come out of savasana feeling blissful as well as empowered.

When/where/why did you go to your first public yoga class?   It was probably about 1987.  After many years practicing on my own with Lilias Folan on tv, my first public class was in a darkened racquetball court in a gym, and the instructor would later become my soulmate. Though he had no formal training, listening to his voice in the dark room guiding us through the poses was magical.  Yes, I fell in love with him, but I also appreciated his ability to create an experience that left his students feeling peaceful and complete.

Aside from yoga teaching and practicing, how do you currently spend the majority of your time?  Being an involved Grammy to 7 year old Miles, teaching Senior Fitness, riding my horse Sweet William, hiking with dog Archie, lots of gardening, reading, journaling, meditating and I do spend A LOT of time with my dear girlfriends.  I have a very active life and I feel so blessed!

What is something random you know more about than people would expect? Needlepoint and embroidery.  I worked in a yarn and embroidery shop early in my high school years, until I realized that no boys were going to come in as customers.  Sadly I can't do it any longer, but I enjoyed making amazing gifts for friends and family when I could!  Actually, I have a hard time believing I used to be able to sit still for so long!

Describe your teaching style in 5 words or less.  Inspiring, motivating, grounding, creative.

We agree 🧡 Thanks Vic!
